Peter Donkersloot was born on the 8th of April 1959 in Arnhem, the Netherlands. Most of his childhood he spent with his father in the woods of The Veluwe, but his mother and grandparents lived in The Betuwe, the region of the large rivers. The long summer holidays he spent over there and the influence of this beautiful environment; you can still see today in his “Dutch landscape” paintings. With the almost abstract skies and reflections of the sun in the water!
After the Art Academy of Arnhem he worked several years as an illustrator and an advertising designer. The death of his father (he died in an car-accident in the mid-eighties) was a turning point. Peter then realized that life was too short to not live his dream: He quit his job and did what he loved most in life: “La peinture libre” : Free Painting! He became an artistic painter.
